Watery Cervical Mucus And 1 Day Late

House Where: Polka, Punk, Destroy

The Warrior Played in the Polka Madre

On 8 March, Polka Madre
and Itching presented her album "Where House" in the cellar of a place called Los Machetes in the Guerrero neighborhood of Mexico City. This is my little chronicle of that day rather night, ending, or rather continued hours after the side of Alameda de Santa Maria la Ribera.

In The Deathcar (First Context)
Polka Madre is a gypsy punk band, formed by three Mexican musicians, a Finn and an American, that is, in that order, Marina de Ita (accordion and keyboards), Enrique Pérez (clarinet), Raymundo Vera (drums) Eric Bergman (guitar and vocals) and Andrew Cameron (bass and vocals).

Formed in 2004 (not so officially), used to gather in the south of the city, around Taxqueña, in what was known as the "Thursday Kramer" and play music with friends in Eastern Europe, Gypsy, Jewish, Polish and Scandinavia.

In 2005 they started playing more on how various parts of the city and inside the country and soon participated in festivals and cities in Europe and the United States, where today they are in high demand by communities punk.

Fuck Love (More background)
I met them two or three years ago in a bar in the center that I brought a friend by chance. Since I am a follower of Emir Kusturica, the plug was immediate. After hearing "Touch My Body", "Circus of the Century" and covers Goran Bregovic and Iggy Pop ("In The Deatchcar"), Tom Waits ("Tango") and Tonino Carotone ("Fuck Love") I became a fan.

Until then I did not know of anyone who also heard Balkan gypsy music, he had not heard live soundtracks for films by Kusturica and Jim Jarmusch ("Arizona Dream" and "Permanent Vacation" in this case). Ever, in the cafeteria of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, a end of the semester, someone gave me a flyer for a party where they would play Balkan music and do not know why I suspect that if I had known I would have gone there, but I was not (look for the piece of paper which I am sure, kept as a curiosity.)

Anyway, Polka music and I like the original Mother, it is punk, but different, it is Roma, but as reinvented from here, from America, Mexico, DF, Taxqueña, Kramer, of any city streets at four in the morning.

know That first day I got a copy of "Polka Madre and Itching Live," a disquito involved in two cardboard covers (Cardboard and cardboard), with the themes of songs written by hand and painted by hand also. I looked for them on myspace and soon went to every place where it occurs, because it felt like the same mine.

Later came "sad news", an album more in shape, with the best recorded songs (the other was alive and could not hear very well) and I got to Marina. Now I have "Where House" (the name, "Where House", has its story), is also exemplary and collection, because in truth the hard-drive was not ready for formal submission and in return released a few dozen copies without screen.

Wet Gypsy (Ora Yes The Touched)
Los Machetes The winery is about three or four blocks from the Metro Guerrero, indeed a great distance to go alone at night and not be sure of exact location in the neighborhood brave in its entirety, but I arrive safely, shortly before 9 pm.

Marina at the entrance was and let me in without paying, which I accepted because after a long desire makes me feel part of the friends of the band, hopefully in the future can accompany any road trip to Mexico City or Mexico and we walk fantasizing, just to be closer.

The winery is quite large, should fit about 300 people with ease, but when I got there were less. In fact, the owners were celebrating a birthday and some of the attendees were friends of the party, which for better or worse helped to fill the place, although there is signs that their party was different, not just the disc of the Polka Madre .

As more people arrived I could be curious for the place, talking to some people and take some pictures. I also got included at the end to leave the tokin in the van (called the "Moby Dick" for his fair share of great white whale).

starters were among the groups "Nabuzenko" the closest thing to the Polka Madre, because they also play covers of Gypsy music, Bregovic, Taraf de Haïdouks, Fanfare Ciocarlia, among others. Although

before them a guest of the Polka, Emerson, I think Andrew's friend, the DJ made in Nabuzenko reality began to set the atmosphere well. With them, Marina and Henry threw a jam session and a few of us up front, we started to dance to gypsy. I recognized a girl who a week before he went to Spain Cultural Center, where he also played the Polka Madre and I think there knew them.

Nabuzenko After playing "Joe Volume & The Vincent Balck Shadows ", close friends from Volume Polka-Joe always says that the only original group of Mexico are the Polka Madre, and says so convinced. The VBS danced to all, including those of the other birthday party that, incidentally, looked like it would more than violence, because after some elbowing and shoving began half purposely blows, half ball, against those without the fluorescent bracelet "friends of the homeowner."

But it was not more and when it was the turn of the Polka Madre, late at midnight on Sunday, all focused on listening and see the band convener. Listen and watch, because the concert was accompanied by video footage of "Isorattya", the Finnish friends, and visual artists, who for quite some time with the group and present installations and performances in the shows, emphasizing the charismatic and unique touch that is known to Polka Madre where they occur.

I took some videos, of course, but it is difficult to see the band live and stay still, so I stopped the video and went to dance with "Mermaids in Space" and "Gypsy Wet", until and after 2 morning that ended in a concert this time did not have many covers and not needed.

Touch My Body (At Night)
I knew that after the party was played. This time I wanted to be part of the caravan at night and got it. Although the van was filled with instruments and other companions of the band finally had a place that allowed me to get out safely (I was worried how I would rather leave) and be in the continuation of the evening.

We left the winery and a block later nobody knew where we were going. Somebody said to Santa Maria La Ribera, where some friends had a bar and gave a few turns trying to locate the address. I had never been to that mall at night, and it seems the City, so clean, so quiet well lit.

Anyway, we arrived around 4 am and the bar was open. A small small bar where they were all fans of the Polka Madre and where we were greeted as if we came to visit from another city and that it came from a pair of neighboring colonies any more.

as missing a few hours before dawn, I passed the time chatting and colándome in other conversations. Volume Joe said he was surprised because, when his band played, the public will put them to beat each other, "but when people play the Polka dance, but do not know them, begin to dance and that's annoying."

also talked Joelle and Flora, of French punk Daily OD, who saw in the month before and Alicia who stayed Kramer few weeks before returning to his native Grenoble. Pekka Simojoki of Isorattya, saying how much he loved Mexico, because it's not like Finland, "a poko aburrrido."

Although we were all tired, we had a pretty good on the bar (we were like 15's moved from the cellar, all the aforementioned, Carlitos, who included me in the party, another friend of Querétaro is the raffled with all so far and some more types and gals). I at 8 am I left, but still others stayed and I understand that later, in Kramer, could sleep.

Stay away from the pack
C'est tout, was to talk about the album, among its curiosities included a theme ("The Blind") played by Laura de Ita, sister of the Navy and so forth, but I stretched. Best buy the album: "Where House" Polka Madre, distributed by "Discos Intolerance" and visit his myspace and newly opened official website .

This Is My Boat is So I will have my time

my birthday celebrations are relatively recent. Be that it did not have sufficient grounds to do so, nor with whom to share. But the past five or six years there have been celebrations for me are more than significant.

This time was no exception and may even think that the previous birthdays were, without planning, a prelude to this.

Last Friday was the meeting principal, although I actually started to be celebrated several weeks earlier. So I can say that part of my birthday this year was [if not deliberately, at least consciously]:

-Meet in person
Goran Bregovic-See "The Changing Page", "Silent Light" and "After Wedding "
-See Fratta and Fernando Rivera Calderón in vice and Edel Juarez Weaver's Forum
-Briz Travel to Monterrey, visit John, go to Antrópolis
-Visit Elenita S., on the pretext of garage sale
-Read the stories of John Villoro
wrongful-Go to the party of "the list"
-lap Change
-Eat
much chocolate cake-walk by night Rome

This was enough to be a birthday abundant, but the best without doubt was Friday already mentioned. Despite the rush to alert a day earlier, so many friends and so far attended the Countess Agapi Mu.

always wanted to do a meeting there and had always expected to share a birthday with several circles at once. And that is always fragmented meetings: those who go to Alicia surfing are not the same as listening to trova or hear Kusturica, who I am in the Cinematheque theater or not speak in technical language or policy and speaking of politics, economy philosophy or they say little dance, music or movies. But they are all my friends and enrich their own way.

What was pleasing to see them all. It may be difficult, but hopefully they will happen again some other day. And hopefully, those who could not get another chance to be present, which gives a lot of good vibes and a birthday.

Sales, as I leave here who take a fraternal Rolita of Frattita, the title of this post.

This Is My Ship
This is my boat and so,
no sail or rudder,
not touch port and you're not,
where are you going, where am I going?
Stay close.

This is my house and so,
no timbre or color,
not call anybody and you're not,
where are you going, where am I going?
Stay close.

This is my theater, so, no piano or
curtain
not applaud anyone and you're not,
where are you going, where am I going?
Stay close, stay close to me.

This is my temple and so, not Christs
or apology, not pray
anyone nor are you,
Where are you going, where I go?
Stay close, stay close to me. Fratta

What Flowers Can I Safely Put On My Wedding Cake?

Gypsies

Preamble
More than two months without updating, I know. It was difficult when I can connect and the connection is very slow, some pages do not open or end up doing other things, like checking email, myspace or hi5 and the result is that I have not written anything in the blog.

have been left out several issues: concerts, meetings with friends, reviews of books, movies ... things I think leave here and I can not.

Well, both actually preamble is because I do not know how to begin. Took weeks knowing that I write this post and now that I start I can not think how to start. Let's see, then.

Forum
Cultures is a concert theme. One that will be on Saturday September 22 at night. Will be in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, in a place called "Of the 400 Years" and is in the center of the city. Is a free event, massive, massive or slightly because that'll have to see for myself.

The square will supposedly fit 5 thousand people and the concert will be held under the Universal Forum of Cultures 2007 , second edition of an international event in Barcelona in 2004 and is characterized by several months (three to five) exhibitions, conferences, concerts and other cultural activities, with the themes of "Diversity Cultural "," Peace "and" Sustainable Development. "

In Spain, the first Forum [honestly, I have serious doubts about what "forum" to be accentuated and would prefer to call it simply "forum", but anyway] lasted 141 days (5 months, from January to September) and says he received more than 3 million people.

Among the personalities of the first edition, were Mikhail Gorbachev, José Saramago, Rigoberta Menchú, Fernando Henrique Cardoso, Juan Luis Cebrian, Adela Cortina, Baltasar Garzon, Ignacio Ramonet, Adolfo Perez Esquivel, Salman Rushdie and Alain Touraine. For Mexico, involved the Papantla Flyers, Carlos Fuentes and Sealtiel Alatriste, among others.

On the artistic side, were Pina Bausch, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Sting, Bob Dylan, Phil Collins, Lenny Kravitz, Víctor Manuel, Ana Belén, Pablo Milanes, Pedro Guerra, Joaquin Sabina, Joan Manoel Serrat, Cesaria Evora, Mikis Theodorakis and Chambao. Speaking

figures Forum 2004 was more than 20 exhibitions, 400 concerts, 170 bands, 60 shows of street theater companies, dance, cabaret and circus performances, interactive installations and dozens of additional cultural activities.

Monterrey Forum
This year, the Forum will be held in Mexico from September 20 to December 8 in the northern city of Monterrey. Personally, I doubt they would compare with that of Barcelona, \u200b\u200bbut I think that this is not reason to revile.

This time, expect more than a thousand events during the 80-day forum, which will be organized into four thematic areas: the aforementioned "Cultural Diversity", "Peace" and "Sustainability" and a room devoted to "Knowledge."

Activities are also organized in three formats: "Dialogues", "Exhibition" and "Cultural Expressions." The first, in turn, has the themes of "Peace and Spirituality, Education, Science and Technology", "Cities and Population", "Knowledge Based Development," "Culture of Health and Quality of Life" "Governance and Participation, Human Rights and Justice" "Identity and Diversity" and "Communication."

is important to note that the Forum is sponsored by UNESCO and this edition of only three months, however, is unprecedented in Latin America. Expected, for example, nearly 2 million attendees, about 410 speakers, 14 presentations and over a thousand activities of dance, music, theater and circus.

will be 56 countries represented, about 100 participating universities, 150 international organizations, 10 global meetings, about 3 thousand artists and intellectuals, 3 000 works on display as well as 30 national and 26 foreign museums.

Among the speakers announced are Mario Molina, Samuel Ruiz, César Cansino, Judith Bokser, Miguel Angel Granados Chapa, Daniel Cazes, Lydia Cacho, Gloria Ramirez, Sandra Cisneros, Enrique Krauze, Mario Vargas Llosa, Michel Wieviorka and Ignacio Ramonet, while in Music concerts will be part of Fito Paez, El Gran Silencio, Plastilina Mosh, Jumbo, Inspector, Jaguar, Patita Dog, Oscar Chavez, The Folklore, Tania Libertad, Lila Downs, Astrid Hadad, Regina Orozco, Eugenia León, Ojos de Brujo and Goran Bregovic.

Two other features of the Forum concerning the pre-planning and its immediate significance in the local area. With respect the former, it is known that preparations began months in advance, as it took a "master plan urban infrastructure, through which were remodeled and created the necessary space to host events and welcome the attendees.

Regarding its importance, it is said (or at least intended) that your event will transform the host locations. And certainly it is expected that in tourism has an important significance for the city. Not only that, while writing this text I received, here in Mexico City, brochures of the forum and heard someone tell another phone that was a few weeks to work there and pay him very well, I assume it will also provide hundreds or thousands of jobs, which is not for nothing. Goran Bregovic

, the Gypsy who visit Mexico
And after all this, I now give a personal explanation of why go to the forum, lightning visit to this city that is unknown to me (with me Briz, a friend of several years, who are sure to love the impromptu trip.)

The reason is simple. Of the hundreds of participants, the presence of Goran Bregovic is what I find to be missed. Everything I wrote would not know if it was not because of chance I read his name in a booklet and checked its performance by visiting the website of the Forum and Bregovic himself, in his concert schedule.

I have at least 10 years waiting for this visit, I always imagined would happen in Mexico City, not county. I know that he knows Bregovic in Argentina and Chile, but Mexico is practically unknown.

When someone asks me the kind of music I hear, I answer without hesitation that gypsy music, Balkan gypsy to be precise. And actually what I mean is that I hear Goran Bregovic. Of course, as the Romanian Taraf de Haïdouks and of course the Yugoslav also Emir Kusturica and No Smoking Orchestra .

But Bregovic is the first, no doubt. "Talijanska", "Kalasnjikov", "Sheva", "Ederlezi", "Hop Hop Hop", "In The Deathcar" or "Borino Gold" are songs (with some ska with some punk rock enough) I can hear over and over again with no hassles. Even the dance and that I have no idea how to dance or if they are dancing.

Nor are familiar to me the Cyrillic alphabet, and the Balkan languages, but those rhythms and sounds make me feel part of something, let alone touch them or say who of those who also enjoy them. So I am Roma and even happier I become.

As almost anyone who knows him, knew of his music for film. "Underground", this film in Mexico Kusturica liked it so much, when he arrived in 1996, was too short for my taste in music.

first thing I did was order the soundtrack on Mix Up, to return to hear that little tune as the band improvised, as provincial on either side, as rowdy and timeless, as sad and melancholy, like to party and funeral.

With the disc in my hands, several months after the assignment, I knew that the composer was Bregovic (bregovich ", say it says.) For that same time, I saw "Time of Gypsies", also scored by Kusturica and Goran. That movie made me fan of Kusturica's final film (or "kusturitza" for snobs purists), eager follower and aspiring Bregovic frantic (and pathetic, I suppose) of gypsy, say like that.

If you've seen "Black Cat, White Cat" tape also gypsies, imagine that I envied the hero and I love the Gitanita stated that it was his girlfriend! In fact, I still remember the name of the actress Branka Katic. Of that size, then, my divers.

Anyway, I'm not just me with this visit. Go to Monterrey only for a weekend is like crazy, more if I've never been there and more if I'm looking for a small square, a concert of two hours, which honestly doubt be filled with fans.

also be chasing a photo, video, some autograph and if it can be a improbabilísima interview. Take my DVD and CD covers for "Underground" (which incidentally have already signed Kusturica: "for Karl, Emir," says the inscription), "Time of Gypsies", "Arizona Dream", "La Reina Margot "and" Stories and Songs from Weddings and Funerals. " If I get a

interview (and if I get a translator), I will ask various things such as his recent involvement as an actor in the Italian film "The Days of Abandonment" (I saw a few months ago, also by chance), your next visit to Chile in early 2008 (of which I found out today and confirmed my friend Ale, via messenger), maybe some of his rift with Kusturica or their latest production "Karmen", which I assume refers to the English Gypsy everybody knows.

Anyway, I will need luck to all that happen. And perhaps fatally nothing happens. But who cares, I'll go and try. If it can be good, and if not well. I guess that's a gypsy attitude [and the failure of a condition], right? [Ooop!]

That
